QUAYLE BEGINS TRIP TO SOUTH AMERICA

Vice President Dan Quayle left today for a tour of South America, saying he wants to listen rather than lecture about how the United States can help its hemispheric neighbors with economic development.

The vice president's trip revolves around two inaugurations - Sunday in Chile and March 15 in Brazil. But he also will stop in Venezuela, Barbados, Argentina and Paraguay for talks on Latin debt and trade problems and on President Bush's push to win acceptance for Panama's U.S.-installed government.
