The $100,000 project will include new sidewalks, small islands with trees and some brick paving.
The work is part of the downtown sidewalk improvement project financed with funds from the city's 1988 bond issue.
Downtown Roanoke Inc. held a news conference on the street this morning to unveil the plan that was donated by Sheretz, Franklin, Crawford & Shaffner.
The drawings include new Victorian street lights similar to those on Campbell Avenue.
The street lights will not be included in the renovations this spring, however, although work will be done to facilitate future installation.
F. Edward Harris, president of Downtown Roanoke Inc., said vehicle traffic and parking will not be affected by the street renovation.
The project, Harris said, is "properly scaled and designed to reflect the human nature of this street."
Harris said the project went out to bid several days ago.
Construction is expected to begin in the spring and take about six weeks.
