SIGNS PREPARED TO PROTECT WOLVES

Travelers to this popular resort area soon may see signs warning motorists that a "red wolf crossing" is ahead.

Eleven wolves have been killed by motorists, several of them along the Alligator River Refuge, where the animals have been placed in the wild in an effort to revitalize an endangered species.

Officials are preparing wolf crossing signs to alert drivers of wolves crossing the road.
