DUBLIN - James Franklin (Jim) Jones, age 78, of 133 West Avenue, Dublin, died
Saturday evening in the Pulaski Community Hospital. Born December 31, 1911, in
Max Meadows, Va., he was the son of the late John William Jones and Elizabeth
Akers Jones. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was retired from the furniture industry. He was a coal miner and a
carpenter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Irene Houchins Jones;
one sister, Mrs. Goldie Thelma Bates; three brothers, Charlie Crockett Jones,
Arthur Floyd Jones, and Richard Lee Jones. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs.
Charlie (Janice) Rose, Cornelius, N.C.; Mrs. Victor (Patricia) Shifflett,
Waynesboro; Sandra Kay Jones, Pulaski; Lana Helen Vaughan, Pulaski; three
sons, James Harold Jones, Dublin; Robert W. (Bobby) Jones, Pulaski; Larry
Jones, Pulaski; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Christine) Wilson, Bristol, Va.;
Mrs. Mittie Armbrister, Max Meadows; Mrs. Alice Armbrister, Pulaski; one
brother, Elmer W. Jones, Draper; 27 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Bower Funeral
Chapel, Dublin, with the Rev. Clarence Cook officiating. Interment will follow
in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, with military honors being conducted
by the Virginia Defense Force. Visiting will be after 12:00 noon Monday with
the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 9:00 Monday evening at the Bower
Funeral Chapel, Dublin. Bower Funeral Chapel, Main Street, Dublin, is handling
the arrangements.
