ECHOLS, ALBERT E.\
Albert E. (Red) Echols, age 76, a retired Assistant Postmaster of Roanoke,
died Sunday in a Roanoke hospital. He worked for the Postal Service for 40
years. Mr. Echols was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served three years during
World War II and two additional years during the Korean Conflict. He was a
32nd degree Mason, a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, a member of Kazim Shrine
Temple, a life member of Roanoke Lodge No. 197 B.P.O.E., a member of Roanoke
Moose Lodge No. 284. He had been a member of the American Legion Post No. 3
for over 40 years. Surviving are his wife, Frances Graly Echols; a sister,
Beryl Echols Levy; a nephew, Brian F. Echols, all of Roanoke. A graveside
service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 1990, at Sherwood
Memorial Park with Dr. Harry Y. Gamble officiating. Masonic graveside rites
will be conducted by Lakeland Lodge No. 190 A.F. & A.M. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to your church or the American Cancer Society. Friends
may call at Lotz Roanoke Chapel.
