The Kandinsky is the resident ensemble at Roanoke College, where its members teach. They are pianist Elizabeth Bachelder, cellist Alan Weinstein and violinist Benedict Goodfriend.
The trio recently was selected for the Arts 1990-91 touring program of the Virginia Commission for the Arts.
The first work on Saturday's program is Aaron Copland's "Vitebsk," which dates from 1929 and is based on a Jewish folk song. W.A. Mozart's Trio in E Major (K. V. 542), the second piece on the program, was written in the summer of 1788.
The program will conclude with Bedrich Smetana's Trio in G Minor, Op. 15. The composer's only piano trio, it was written in 1855 and is an expression of Smetana's grief at the death of his oldest daughter.
Tickets are $5 and can be reserved by calling the Olin box office at 375-2333.
