AUTO SHOP OWNER WINS $3.5 MILLION STATE LOTTO PRIZE

Theodore R. Heskett Jr. of Leesburg claimed a $3.5 million Virginia Lotto prize Monday for choosing the six correct numbers from last weekend's game.

Heskett, 55, picked the numbers 9, 17, 21, 23, 27 and 37, which were drawn Saturday night. He said he chose the numbers at random.

He received a check for $134,735 after taxes, the first of 20 annual installments of the prize.

Heskett, owner of an automobile body shop, also breeds and races horses as a hobby. Teedor, a horse owned by Heskett, won a race Sunday at the track in Charles Town, W.Va.

Heskett is Virginia's third Lotto winner. Anthony Palermo of Virginia Beach won $7.1 million on Feb. 17. Tina Saunders of Roanoke County won $1.7 million on Feb. 24.
