BRIEFLY . . .

Home Shopping Network says its first-half net income and sales reached record high levels, thanks to the strength of the electronic retailing industry. The St. Petersburg, Fla., company said its earnings for the six months ending Feb. 28 were $33.1 million, almost double the $17.1 million of a year earlier. Sales came to $517.2 million, up from $408.2 million.

\ Kollmorgen Corp., owner of three Radford operations, reported a loss of $18.9 million for last year, blamed mainly on costs associated with Vernitron Corp.'s terminated acquisition plan and the sale of business segments. A year earlier, Kollmorgen had net income of $5.9 million. Sales declined to $227.8 million from $247.6 million.
