OBITUARIES OUGHT NOT GIVE ADDRESSES

I CAN'T take any more. Ed Shamy has run two articles on deceased people who have been ripped off because the obituary column listed their address.

People in mourning are subject to many offenses, but this type of crime could be prevented. It only takes the local funeral director to say that it's not a good idea to print the address of the deceased.

Other cities and communities just list the block or street where they lived. Why can't our city?\ COYE WITT\ ROANOKE

Editor's note: Some families of the deceased prefer to have full street addresses listed; other families do not. In the unpaid death notices and in the paid obituaries, this newspaper's policy is to follow the wishes of the family as relayed by the funeral director.
