VA. HORTICULTURE EXPERT TO GIVE KEYNOTE SPEECH AT SYMPOSIUM

Diane Relf, a horticultrue specialist with the Virginia Extension Service in Blacksburg, will have a prominent role in a horticulture symposium to be held at Arlington April 19-21.

She will be the keynote speaker for the research portion of the session, which is expected to draw horticultural experts from throughout the nation.

The symposium, "The Role of Horticulture in Human Development," is being sponsored by Virginia Tech and several horticultural associations.

Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Abington, will speak at the opening session at 7 p.m. April 19.

On April 20, Candice Shoemaker of Virginia Tech will be the moderator of an afternoon session on "Plants and Human Culture."

Registration deadline is April 5. More information on the conference is available from Relf at Virginia Tech.

Also scheduled to speak at the opening session is Sen. Mark Hatfield, R-Oregon, and Rep. Jamie Whitten of Mississippi.
