FOG DELAYS PAY OFF FOR TRUMP SHUTTLERS

Donald Trump's promise to compensate passengers if one of his shuttle flights is late turned into a bonanza for hundreds of travelers when fog floated over the airport here and in New York City.

But officials of the Trump Shuttle weren't worried; they say the foul weather on the first two days of the offer guaranteed the success of the promotion.

The billionaire developer announced Tuesday that Trump Shuttle passengers would receive gifts if any flight was more than 15 minutes late. The next day, fog set in at Logan International Airport, and eight Trump Shuttle flights were delayed.

On Thursday morning, fog closed LaGuardia Airport in New York to incoming flights for about 3 1/2 hours, halting three Trump flights.

About 2,800 passengers were affected by the delays Wednesday. There was no estimate of how many were delayed Thursday.

The promotion gives delayed passengers vouchers for a 5,000-mile bonus on Trump's frequent flier program; a free, one-way companion ticket for the shuttle that can be used any weekend, or a $20 American Express restaurant certificate. The promotion runs through March 31. - Associated Press
