Also voted to the first team in balloting by Virginia sportswriters and broadcasters were David Johnson and Luther Bates of state champion Fluvanna, Chad Kibler of Woodstock Central and Allen Shifflett of William Monroe.
Davenport, a 6-foot-3 senior forward, led the state runner-up Knights in scoring with 19.7 points per game and averaged 8.5 rebounds. He was a second-team selection last year.
Under Shotwell, the Knights held the No. 1 ranking throughout the season and had lost only once heading into the state final against Fluvanna.
It was the second consecutive year Fluvanna had two players on the first team. Bates earned first-team honors last year, as did the Flucos' David Brice, a second-team selection this year.
Also named to the second team this year were Reecie Gravely of J.I. Burton, Joel Morgan of Buffalo Gap, Michael Ransome of Middlesex and Trazel Silvers of Ervinton.
Johnson, a 6-1 senior who scored 19 points in the Flucos' 64-40 victory over James River in the state title game, was voted player of the year. He led the Flucos with 16.9 points, 4.6 assists and 2.7 steals a game.
Bates was the only junior to make the first- or second-team. He scored 21 points in the state championship and averaged 14 points and 8.8 rebounds on the season.
