COMPLAINT DROPPED AGAINST TRUCK STOP

Prosecutors have decided against pushing for the closing of a Stafford County truck stop where prostitutes and drug dealers allegedly flourished, said a report published Thursday.

A complaint filed in Circuit Court against Servicetown Truck Plaza has been dropped, although the complaint could be reinstated in the future, according to the Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg.

Last December, the truck stop at Interstate 95 and U.S. 17 in Falmouth became the first public target of a grand jury charged with investigating drug use in the region.

Since then, a private security firm has patrolled the parking lot and Servicetown owners have improved outdoor lighting. They also closed off the portion of the lot where the worst of the drug dealing and prostitution supposedly took place, the newspaper said.

Sources said that the situation had drastically improved at Servicetown.
