HARMAN, JOHN V.

John Valentine Harman, age 65, of 305 Park Street, died Thursday, March 15, 1990 in a Radford Hospital. He was born and raised in Christiansburg, a son of the late Gaynor and Pauline Conner Harman. He was active in all sports at Christiansburg High School and Fishburne Military Academy. A graduate of Virginia Tech, he served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He taught Agriculture at Pearisburg High and retired from the R.A.A.P. with 18 years service. He was also active in the farming community. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Harman. He is survived by his wife, Marie J. Harman; son, John Gaynor Harman, Rockville, Md.; two daughters, Gina Fletcher, Charlottesville; Vicky Robertson, Silver Springs, Md.; brother, William Harman, Christiansburg; sister, Polly H. Eggleston, Petersburg; five grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday from the Main Street Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Peter duPlessis with burial in Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 Saturday evening.
