OLIVER, GEORGE J.\ George J. Oliver, age 79, of Vinton, died Friday, March 16, 1990. Surviving are his wife, Pauline D. Oliver; one daughter, Jackie Pendleton, Vinton; six sons, Terry Oliver, Vinton; Richard Oliver, Nashville, Tenn.; Glenroy Oliver, Roanoke; Stephen Oliver, Stanley Oliver, both of Vinton; Paul Oliver, Troutville; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Myrtle Pratt, Roanoke; Janie Holt, Virginia Beach; Dorothy Martin, Roanoke. Graveside services will be at the Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton, at 10:00 a.m. Monday, with Mr. Richard Putman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Vinton Life Saving Crew. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel after 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
