Terry Holland, who has guided Virginia to a 19-11 record and its eighth NCAA Tournament berth in 10 years, was selected Friday as one of 15 Division I coaches of the year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Holland, 47, is in his 16th and final season as the Cavaliers' coach. He will become the athletic director at Davidson.

Virginia reached the championship game of the ACC Tournament before losing 70-61 to Georgia Tech. On Friday night, the Cavaliers played Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Holland's ninth overall as UVa coach.

Also selected were Jim Calhoun of Connecticut, Lou Carnesecca of St. John's, Speedy Morris of LaSalle, Cliff Ellis of Clemson, Hugh Durham of Georgia, Wade Houston of Tennessee, Jerry Lloyd of Louisiana Tech, Nolan Richardson of Arkansas, Gene Keady of Purdue, Jud Heathcote of Michigan State, Roy Williams of Kansas, Roger Reid of Brigham Young, Jim Anderson of Oregon State and Neil McCarthy of New Mexico State.

All those selected are eligible to become Kodak Coach of the Year on April 1.
