Howard William Snead, age 72, of 3171 Garden City Blvd., S.E., died Thursday, March 15, 1990. He was the retired manager of the Towers ABC Store. Mr. Snead was a member of Garden City Baptist Church and was an army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Christine Gearheart Snead; a son, Thomas G. Snead, of Calloway; and preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Suzie Snead, on January 25, 1990; a daughter and son-in-law, Tondra S. and Douglas A. Blevins of Simpsonville, S.C.; three granddaughters, Stacy Snead, Emily Snead, and Nikki Blevins; one grandson, Alex Snead; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Emory Gearheart. Funeral services will be from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Don McCaskill will officiate. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 1240 B 3rd St., Roanoke, VA. 24016 or a favorite charity. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday.
