MILLBORO - Jesse James Newcomb, age 91, formerly of Washington, D.C. and
Botetourt County, passed away in a Roanoke nursing home, Friday, March 16,
1990. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel F. Newcomb, and a daughter,
Alene A. Newcomb. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Hazel and
Cecil McFarland, Nellie and Earl Rucker, and Geraldine and Sam Semones, all of
Roanoke; two sons, James W. (Bud) Newcomb, Fincastle; Jesse Junior Newcomb,
Carle Place, N.Y.; one sister, Maggie Jernell, Daleville; 10 grandchildren; 16
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a host of nieces, nephews and
cousins; special friends, Kathy Bass, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Livick. Funeral
services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Eagle Rock Funeral Home
by the Rev. Leslie S. Napier. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Botetourt
County.
