WHITE, ASA R.\ THAXTON - Asa Russell White, age 90, of Route 1, passed away Friday, March 16, 1990, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born May 10, 1899, in Bedford County, a son of the late Libnah Z. White and Sue White Frazier. His wife was the late Nora Orange White. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Betty Woolfolk, Mrs. Sarah Bowyer, both of Bedford; Mrs. Joann Barfield, Forest, Miss.; five sons, George White and Wallace White, both of Bedford; Berkley White, Thaxton; Elbert White, Stone Mountain, Ga.; Joe White, Staunton; a half sister, Mrs. Ann Dooley, Astor Park, Fla.; one half brother, W.B. (Bally) Frazier, Barbourville, Ky.; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 19, 1990, at 11:00 a.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Rusty Craig, Dr. Richard Boyce, and the Rev. Earl Ragland. Interment will be in the Parker Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
