BYRD'S JORDAN CAPTURES ONE-ON-ONE CHAMPIONSHIP

Paul Jordan of William Byrd defeated John Baker of Northside 21-17 to win the 14th Knights of Columbus high school boys' one-on-one championship at Roanoke Catholic on Sunday.

In the Junior League championship, the High Street Saints defeated the Mason Cove Volunteers 60-54. Carlos Gravely scored 24 points for the winners and was named most valuable player.

In the Little League division, the North Roanoke Hawks downed the Cave Spring 76ers 37-27. Brian Sells had 12 points, Chris Johnson added 11 and tournament most valuable player Justin Porterfield chipped in 11.

Top-seeded Heights Club defeated the North Roanoke Hawks 27-21, with tournament MVP Trevor Plunkett leading the way with 16 points. - Staff report
