James Franklin (Jim) Linkenhoker, Sr., age 67, died Sunday, March 18, 1990, in Lewis-Gale Hospital. He was a World War II veteran, a member of the American Legion Post #93, member of the Springwood Baptist Church, and retired from the Lone Star Cement Plant. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Wesley and William Long. Surviving are his wife, Violet Craft Linkenhoker; one son and daughter-in-law, James F. Linkenhoker, Jr., (Crickett), and Tina C. Linkenhoker, Fincastle; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby (Susie) and Tommy Childress, Buchanan; Becky Schechterly and Freddie Ballard, Mill Creek; Penny and Billy Long, Griffith Park; three grandchildren, Greg Childress, Buchanan; Troy James (T.J.) Linkenhoker, Samantha Renee Linkenhoker, both of Fincastle; three sisters, Viola Austin, Mrs. Don Peery, Mrs. William Peery, all of Buchanan; four brothers, Howard R. Linkenhoker, Roanoke; Walter L., Henry T., and Robert Linkenhoker, Jr., all of Buchanan. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 21, 1990, at 3:00 p.m. in Springwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Chester L. Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home, Buchanan.
