CUNDIFF, LEMON T.\ BEDFORD - Lemon Thompson Cundiff, age 94, of Route 6, passed away Sunday, March 18, 1990 in the Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley. She was born January 17, 1896 in Franklin County, a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Thompson and Sarah Shephard Thompson. She was a member of the Thaxton Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, William Bennie Cundiff; an infant son and daughter; a son, Irving D. Cundiff. She is survived by four sons, William Edward Cundiff, Samuel Wallace Cundiff, both of Vinton; Thomas Jackson Cundiff, Bedford; Jimmie Maurice Cundiff, Roanoke; three daughters, Daisy C. Stevens, Helen C. Stevens, both of Bedford; Pauline C. Woodford, Haw River, N.C.; three brothers, Samuel J. Thompson, New Orleans, La.; James H. Thompson, Vinton; Grover A. Thompson, Roanoke; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 21, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford by the Rev. Michael DuVal. Interment will be in the Mentow Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home and requests that those wishing to make memorials should consider the Vinton, Montvale, or Bedford Life Saving Crews.
