2 LANCERS ON ALL-STAR TEAM

Virginia Lancers defensemen Bill Whitfield and Scott Drevitch made the East Coast Hockey League's all-star team, which was announced Monday.

Dave Allison, the Lancers' coach, was pronounced coach of the year last week.

Whitfield, a first-team choice, and Drevitch, on the second team, helped make the Lancers' defense best in the league. In 59 games, Whitfield scored nine goals and had 20 assists. Drevitch had 14 goals and 31 assists.

Three Winston-Salem players made the first team - forwards Trent Kaese and Len Soccio and defenseman Dave Doucette. Erie forward Bill McDougall, the league's leading scorer with a league-record 144 points and 11 game-winning goals, Nashville defenseman Andre Brassard and Hampton Roads goaltender Alain Raymond rounded out the first team.

Forwards Trevor Jobe and Brian Martin of Hampton Roads joined Drevitch on the second team. Rounding out the team were Nashville forward Glen Engevik, Winston-Salem forward Joe Ferras and Erie goalie Craig Barnett. Ron Hansis of Erie was second-team coach. - Staff report
