BABY MAMMOTH FOUND FROZEN, ALMOST INTACT

An almost intact baby mammoth, frozen for at least 12,000 years, has been found in western Siberia, scientists have reported.

A report in the winter issue of The Polar Record, published by the Scott Polar Research Institute at Cambridge University in England, said that the Soviet journal Priroda reported the find last year.

According to the reports, the baby mammoth was well preserved, measuring about 3 1/2 feet long and missing only the trunk and tail.

The mammoth was less than 3 months old when it died. It probably fell through ice on a lake or river.
