PIPELINE COMPANY PAYING CITY FOR SPILL

Colonial Pipeline Co., under a settlement approved Monday by the state, will pay $50,000 to the city of Fredericksburg for a kerosene spill that polluted the city's water in December.

The agreement also allows the city and state to seek more money from the company if a state-supervised investigation turns up further damages from the Dec. 18 spill in Orange County.

The agreement approved by the board will take effect after a 30-day public comment period.
