CENSORING IMMIGRATION REPORTS CRITICIZED

Human rights advocate Natan Sharansky today criticized Israel's censorship of reports on Soviet immigration, saying it was hurting efforts to settle the new arrivals.

The ban on publication of immigration figures was imposed March 1 amid mounting Arab protests that the influx could lead to more Jewish settlement in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, home to 1.7 million Palestinians.
