Henry Clay Bailey, age 89, of Friendship Manor, died Tuesday, March 20, 1990 in a local hospital. He was a retired executive with Roanoke Iron and Bridge. Mr. Bailey was a long time member and participant in the music program at Calvary Baptist Church. He was very active in scheduling the worship services at Friendship Manor. Surviving are his wife, Sarah Lewis Bailey; sisters, Miss Ruth Bailey; and Mrs. Fred (Grace) Huffine, both of Jonesborough, Tenn; a nephew, the Rev. Rolen Bailey, Roanoke; nieces, Mrs. Kathryn Bradley, Manikin-Sabot; Mrs. Nancy Steedbeck, South Dakota; and Mrs. Dorothy Marshall, Ill. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church. Services will be 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, with Dr. C. Steven Teague and Dr. Harry Y. Gamble officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 1990 in the Manor East Chapel at Friendship Manor, with Dr. Denver J. Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
