DUBLIN - Mrs. Sarah Ellen McDaniel Palmer, 89, of 112 High Street, Dublin,
died Tuesday morning in the Radford Community Hospital, Radford. Born March
26, 1900, in Pulaski, County, Va., she was the daughter of the late David
Nathaniel McDaniel and Hattie Knode McDaniel. She was a life-long member of
the Dublin United Methodist Church, Dublin. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Guthrie Johnson Palmer, Sr. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Lula
Williams, Bedford, Pa.; Mrs. Lea Perry Keister, Bedford, Va.; Mrs. George
(Nancy) Tribble, Dublin, Va.; Mrs. Randy (Sarah) Roberson, Colorado Springs,
Colo.; one son, Guthrie Johnson (Gus) Palmer, Jr., Pulaski, Va.; one sister,
Mrs. Anna Bell Cobler, Roanoke, Va.; four half sisters, Mrs. Hattie Lee Bates,
Roanoke, Va.; Mrs. Lewis (Dorothy) Nester, Roanoke, Va.; Mrs. Lucy Smith,
Greensboro, N. C.; and Mrs. Alpha Blevins, Dublin, Va.; one sister-in-law,
Mrs. Virgie McDaniel, Pulaski, Va.; ten grandchildren, nineteen
great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren. The funeral will be
conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Dublin United Methodist Church with
the Rev. Charles W. Lockerby and the Rev. Henry N. Horton officiating.
Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Garden, Dublin. Visiting will be
anytime Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 9:00
Wednesday evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski. The family will be
meeting at the residence of the daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George L. Tribble, Fair
Acres, Dublin. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions
to be made to the Dublin United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 577, Dublin, Va.
24084. Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bob White Blvd., Pulaski, is handling the
arrangements.
