U.S. JUDGE TURNS DOWN DEATH SENTENCE APPEAL

A U.S. district judge has rejected the appeal of a former Marine sergeant convicted of shooting a Dale City woman in the head then hanging her from a doorknob with a scarf.

Judge James R. Spencer on Monday rejected Timothy Dale Bunch's appeal, which alleged a host of constitutional rights violations.

Bunch was convicted of the 1982 murder and robbery of Su Cha Thomas and was sentenced to death by a Prince William County jury.

His appeals have been rejected by the Virginia Court of Appeals and the Virginia Supreme Court.
