REED, CLARRIS H.

Clarris Hylton Reed, age 95, widow of Cecil C. Reed, was called to her eternal home on Wednesday, March 21, 1990, at Renova Medical Center, Mechanicsburg, Pa. She had resided with her daughter, Treva Luck in New Cumberland, Pa., for the past 14 months. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Lena Hylton of Floyd, Va. She was married to Cecil C. Reed on February 22, 1914, and resided in Floyd. In 1980, they moved to Friendship Manor in Roanoke. She was a member of the Topeco Church of the Brethren and served faithfully for many years and was loving and caring in her community. She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Murlin. She is survived by four daughters, Ina Thompson, Sandy, Utah; Gleda Baldini, Jamesport, N.Y.; Twila Reed, Floyd; Treva (Sally) Luck, New Cumberland, Pa.; one sister, Bessie Pullen, Roanoke; one brother, Maynard Hylton, Floyd; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Topeco Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Keith Spangler and the Rev. Ralph Spradling officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the Maberry Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cecil and Clarris Reed Trust Fund for Continuing Christian Education.
