RADFORD MAN ARRESTED ON BREAK-IN CHARGES

Police have arrested a Radford man on charges of breaking into the McHarg Elementary School on 12th Street and stealing various items, including a desktop computer.

Gregory D. Smith, 18, of the 300 block of Shepherd Avenue was arrested Tuesday morning.

Items valued at $1,500, including the computer, were taken from the school on March 6, Police Lt. Jackie Roop said.

The computer was recovered in Pulaski County on Monday.

Roop would not say where police found the computer, but he said it helped lead to Smith's arrest.

Information from a member of the city's Neighborhood Watch program also helped the investigation, Roop said.
