SIGNUP FOR HEAD START UNDER WAY FOR 1990-91

Head Start, a federally funded program for low-income children ages 3 to 4 years, is now accepting applications for the 1990-91 school year.

There are 245 slots for enrollment open in the New River Valley. The New River Valley Head Start program offers both home-based and center-based programs.

Children in the center based program attend Head Start for four hours a day, four days a week. Activities at Head Start are designed to meet each child's social, intellectual, physical and emotional needs.

In the home program, a home visitor meets with the parent of the child for 1 1/2-2 hours each week and helps plan activities for the child. Call your local Head Start Center or New River Community Action at 382-6186.
