NEWS: WUVT's fund-raiser "Radio-thon" runs until Friday, and the Tech station's goal is $2,500. For $2 you can request any song of any format at any time - and the DJ has to play it. Also, Throb, WUVT's "3 Bands for 3 Bucks" series, runs Wednesday-Thursday night at South Main Cafe and Buddy's in Blacksburg. Proceeds go to WUVT. Call 552-0640 or 552-0644 for info.

WVVV is live at Triangle Lanes in Christiansburg today at 1 p.m., promoting the Big Brothers/Big Sisters fund-raiser, "Bowl For Kids' Sake." Sign up for free bowling to raise money and win prizes. Call 381-0300.

WPSK will be on location at Pulaski Motors today, noon-2 p.m., to give out T-shirts, video movies and concert tickets to Conway Twitty and George Jones.

To kick off spring, WJJJ has challenged WRIQ and WRAD to a rematch lawn mower race today at 2 p.m. in Lowe's parking lot, Christiansburg. During the first match March 10, the sister stations won. They'll race rain or shine.

Tonight at 7:30 p.m. WFNR will tape the Goins Brothers concert, with the Lost & Found band, at Peterstown (W.Va.) High School.

On Tuesday, the WFNR gang provides live tunes for John Deere Day at Christiansburg High. The 7:30 p.m. event, which premieres new tractors, includes the Bolt Brothers.

Also Tuesday, Billy Hale, general manager of WBLB, returns from Russia and distributing Bibles. The station raised $1,400 to buy the Russian Bibles.

\ ROCK: On WVRU this week: "Long Live Rock" Monday 9 p.m. features part two of a Rush special. "Music View," which premieres progressive rock and has interviews and prizes, airs Monday 8:30 p.m.

On WVVV this week: today 9-11 a.m. is "Flashback" to 1971. "Reeling In The Years" on Sunday 9-noon, airs Pete Townshend, Warren Zevon and Gary Wright. "In The Studio" on Sunday 8 p.m. features "Business As Usual" by Men At Work. "Album Feature" on Sunday 11 p.m. spotlights "Damn The Torpedoes" by Tom Petty. "Rock Line" Monday at 11:30 p.m. has Ovation-Guitar of the Stars Sweepstakes; listen for details.

\ COMEDY: All day April 1 will be "America's Comedy" on WRIQ's "Country Coast to Coast" with music and prizes.

WVVV's "Comedy Hour" Sunday 9 p.m. includes Robin Williams, Robert Klein, Louis Anderson and a Jay Leno interview.

\ COUNTRY: WPSK's "All Request Saturday Night" runs 6-midnight. Call 633-1071 from Montgomery County and Radford and 980-1071 from Pulaski and Wythe counties.

Tonight, 6-10, is "American Country Countdown" on WPSK with the nation's top 40 from artists like Randy Travis and the Charlie Daniels Band.

Monday, 7-10 p.m., is a WKEX Dolly Parton special. On Wednesday, it's a WKEX Oak Ridge Boys feature program.

Tuesday is WPSK's "Best Night of Radio on Radio" with the NRV's Top 25, 8-10 p.m., followed by "Disc Jockey Records & Tapes CD of the Week" featuring Willie Nelson's "A Horse Called Music."

"Ralph Emery Show," aired 10:30 a.m. weekdays on WRAD and 2:30 p.m. weekdays on WKEX, spotlights Ronny McDowell.

Call WPUV at 980-1580 to sign up to be on "Banded Hub Hoedown," the station's live local musician program, for next Saturday.
