PARKS, JOHN A.\ John A. (Parkie) Parks, age 95, of 2945 Ruritan Road, N.E., Roanoke, died Saturday in a Montvale nursing home. He was a member of the Bonsack United Methodist Church and a retired carpenter. Surviving are his wife, Ruth I. Parks; four sons, Virgil E. Parks and Paul R. Parks, both of Roanoke; D. Cornett Parks and Arthur Parks, both of Galax; four daughters, Mrs. Esther Ray, Mrs. Magdalene Bolt, both of Roanoke; Mrs. Madge Coble, Troutville; Mrs. Thelma Manus, Galax; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Priscilla Cornett, Galax; half brother, Carmen Parks, Dover, Del.; half sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Hampton, Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. June Kendrick, Shelby, N.C.; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 26, 1990, with the Rev. J. Jeffrey Butcher officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
