OBIT-DARDEN, C.

DARDEN, CLARA L.\ RICH CREEK - Clara Lafon Darden, age 58, died Friday in a Pearisburg hospital. She was born in Ripplemead, Va., a daughter of Mrs. Emma Dunford Lafon, Pearisburg, and the late Robert Andrew Lafon. She was a homemaker; a member of the First Baptist Church of Rich Creek; free-lance artist; and served as church organist, pianist, and choir director in various churches. She was an active member of various church organizations. Other survivors include her husband, the Rev. Joseph R. Darden, Rich Creek; one son, Timothy Alan Darden, Parksley, Va.; one daughter, Rebecca Sue Gonzales, Narrows. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Rich Creek. The Rev. Charles R. Addington will officiate. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. Friends may call Sunday after 3:00 p.m. at Broyles Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, W.Va. and at the church one hour prior to the service Monday. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be deacons of the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Repair Fund, First Baptist Church, Rich Creek, or the Muscular Dystrophy Fund.
