OBIT-SPRADLIN, R.
Richard Leeland Spradlin, age 74, of Route 7, died Friday, March 23, 1990,
in a Roanoke hospital. He was born in Bedford, October 21, 1915, a son of the
late Alexander Spradlin and Minnie Hughes Spradlin. He was a retired employee
of the N & W Railroad; a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; and was a member
of Suck Spring Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Dooley
Spradlin; a son, R. Eugene Spradlin, Bedford; two daughters, Dianne Marie
Nichols, Bedford; Mary Lee Nance, Belgium; five grandchildren; one
great-grandson. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside in
Virginia Memorial Park Monday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas M. Cooper
officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at
the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
