Mrs. Claudia Meador Carter, age 74, of Route 2, Vinton, died at her home
Saturday after showing great courage during a long illness. She was a member
of Waverly Place Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband,
Lester W. Carter, and a son, Norman E. Carter. Surviving are two daughters and
sons-in-law, Joyce and Douglas Foutz, Vinton; Judy and Allen Wagner, Blue
Ridge; a son, L. Gerald Carter, Salem; grandson and wife, Philip and Karen
Carter; grandsons, Anthony Wagner, Jeremy and Benjamin Carter; granddaughters
and husbands, Connie and Vincent Light; Teresa and Larry Wymer; Brenda and
Mike Chattin; Cindy Lou and Duane Quick; Gwen and Bill Spradlin; three
great-grandchildren, Diana, Ashley and Donald; sisters, Cora M. Saunders,
Lorene M. Wheeler, June M. Wilkes; three brothers, Riley E. Meador, Shirley T.
Meador, Willie E. Meador, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted fromOakey's
Vinton Chapel at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 26, 1990 with the Rev. Dr. Wilfred B.
Webb, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may
call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
