Woodrow W. (Chick) Dennis, age 76, died Saturday, March 24, 1990, at his home. He was a native of West Virginia and had been a Peninsula resident for 45 years. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding Welding Department in 1982 after 30 years of service. He is survived by one daughter, Joyce D. Poff, Roanoke, Va.; one son, Woodrow W. Dennis, II, Ferrum, Va.; two stepdaughters, Mary Elizabeth Vermillion, Hertford, N. C.; Shirley A. Cheek, Newport News; two stepsons, William H. Warren, Petersburg, Va.; John W. Warren, Hampton; two sisters, Frances Roten, Bluefield, W. Va.; Shirley A. Bromley, Pinson, Ala.; four brothers, Robert H. Dennis, Ravenna, Ohio; Thurman E. Dennis, Tampa, Fla.; L. Elwood Dennis, Abelene, Texas; Jackie L. Dennis, Brandon, Fla.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Peninsula Funeral Home with the Rev. Samuel Tatem officiating and burial in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, Newport News.
