LOWER RATE PUSHED FOR UNITED CITIES GAS

A State Corporation Commission hearing examiner has recommended an increase of about $417,000 per year for United Cities Gas Co. customers in Southwest Virginia.

The recommendation is $760,000 less than the $1,176,000 requested by United Cities.

If the SCC approves the recommended increase of about 1.7 percent, United Cities would be required to refund, with interest, excess revenues collected through a higher interim rate which was imposed Dec. 1.
