Virginia Whitlow White, age 77, of Roanoke passed away Monday, March 26, 1990, in a local hospital. She was the widow of John L. White, a member of Melrose Baptist Church and was a retired housekeeper from Hotel Roanoke and a retired executive housekeeper from Lewis-Gale Hospital. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Harvey Shell, Jenny and Charles Nelson, all of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Jeffrey L. Shell, Becky L. Sackett, Bonnie L. Dodson, Chris Nelson, Chuck Nelson, seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Mae Mason, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside, Mountain View Cemetery (Vinton) at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Larry E. Sprouse officiating. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel after 12:00 noon Tuesday where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.
