FAIRFAX OKS BOND SALE FOR PARKWAY

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors has voted 6-3 to approve the sale of $330 million in bonds for completion of the Fairfax County Parkway.

The 35-mile parkway, once known as the Springfield Bypass, will run from southeastern to northwestern Fairfax County, roughly parallel to the Capital Beltway. Two short and unconnected sections have been completed - one by private developers, the other by the state and county - but 22 miles had been put off pending funding.

County officials estimate construction to be completed by 1994.
