About 120 jobs will be paid for with $163,154 from the New River-Mount Rogers Private Industry Council. The employment and training program serves 14- to 21-year-olds who meet the requirements of the Job Training Partnership Act.
Youths will work for local, state and federal agencies in maintenance, clerical assistance, lab assistance, forestry and playground assistance. Workers are hired and paid by New River Valley Human Resources with the job sites providing supervision and tools.
Each youth will be paid for up to 240 hours of work during the program, mid-June through mid-August. Workers will receive the minimum wage of $3.80 per hour. For information, call a school guidance office or New River Valley Human Resources at 382-7466.
