OBIT-GILBERT

GILBERT, JOHN L.\ John L. (Jack) Gilbert, age 81, of 777 Boulevard, Salem, died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was a member of The Elks Lodge and the Masonic Lodge of Williamson, W.Va. He was a former City Manager of the City of Buena Vista, and Town Manager of Bluefield, Va. Surviving are his wife, Helen D. Gilbert; one daughter, Mary Agnes Simpkins, Williamson, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Melinda Bailey, London, Ky.; Brenda Simpkins, Williamson, W.Va.; John Simpkins, Lexington, Ky.; Bill Simpkins, Ormond, Fla.; one sister, Mary K. Lannian, Louisville, Ky.; stepson, David Hunter, Goodview; a number of nieces, and nephews. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturdy at the Kilgore-Collier Funeral Home in Cattletsburg, Ky. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke.
