MARTINSVILLE WINS IN AAU BOYS' OPENER

The AAU boys' 12-and-under and 14-and-under state tournaments got under way Thursday in Roanoke.

In opening-round games in the 12-and-under tournament at William Fleming High and William Ruffner Middle School, the Martinsville Red Wave defeated Williamson Road Cavaliers of Roanoke 79-46, the Cave Spring Bulls beat the Radford Bobcats 47-42, the YMCA Lakers stopped the Glenvar Spartans 61-28 and Glenvar Air beat Franklin County 58-39.

In the 14-and-under tournament at Patrick Henry High, Cave Spring defeated Glenvar-Salem 64-52 and the Roanoke Hawks rolled by Blacksburg 101-36. - Staff report
