STUDENTS CHARGED IN ARSON

BLACKSBURG - Two Virginia Tech students were arraigned in Montgomery County General District Court Thursday on charges of setting fire to a vacant house on Clay Street last year.

John L. Skrobiszewski Jr., 21, of the 400 block of Willard Drive, and Patrick J. DiStefano, 22, of the 1500 block of Meadowbrook Drive were arrested at their apartments Wednesday, Blacksburg Detective D.K. Goodman said.

The arrests capped a year-long investigation into the cause of the April 6 fire that did $60,000 damage to the house at 400 W. Clay St., Goodman said. No one was injured in the fire.

Skrobiszewski and DiStefano were released after posting bond. A May 2 preliminary hearing has been scheduled.
