OBIT-THOMASSON G.

THOMASSON, G. CARROLL\ MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - G. Carroll Thomasson, age 73, formerly of Martinsville, died Thursday in a Myrtle Beach hospital. Born April 1, 1916, in Roanoke, he was the son of the late G.D. and Frances Richardson Thomasson. He was a former sales representative for Stanley Furniture Company and in 1968 assumed the same position with Bassett Furniture Industries, transferring to Charleston, W.Va. In 1982, he retired and moved to Myrtle Beach. A veteran of World War II, he was a major in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Martinsville and the Knights of Pythias. Surviving are his wife, Jessica Reavis Thomasson; two sons, Donald Scott Thomasson, Tierra Verde, Fla.; George Carroll Thomasson, Jr., Washington, D.C.; a sister, Mrs. George (Ruth) Dillard, Roanoke; eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday from the First Baptist Church of Martinsville with Dr. James Baucom and Dr. Chevis Horne officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville. Arrangements by McKee Funeral Service, Martinsville.
