DODGERS TRADE STUBBS TO ASTROS

The Los Angeles Dodgers began to loosen their outfield logjam Sunday when they traded longtime reserve Franklin Stubbs to the Houston Astros for minor-league pitcher Terry Wells.

In Houston, where Glenn Davis has a firm grip on first base, Stubbs will be competing for outfield time with promising Eric Anthony and veteran Glenn Wilson. Stubbs, a former Virginia Tech standout, was excited about the prospect.

"I just wanted to have a chance to play," Stubbs said. "I'm glad something finally happened. I feel like I have a new lease on life and a chance to extend my career."

Stubbs, 29, hit .291 with four home runs in 69 games last season, his sixth with Los Angeles.
