MONTGOMERY ANTI-DRUG PROGRAM TRAINS LEADERS

Nine students and adults from Montgomery County have been trained as leaders in the campaign against drugs. They are Kathie Joyce, Dee Phillips and Melissa Nester, students at Auburn High School; Dana Linkous, a student at Christiansburg High; Kellie Phoenix and Jennifer Epperly, students at Shawsville High; Freda Epperly' a parent; and John Yon and Martha Spencer, county DARE officers.

Participants in the program performed in drug-free skits and learned how to organize drug prevention activities and teach students self-esteem and drug refusal skills.

The next training seminar of this type for Southwest Virginia is scheduled for March 1991.
