UMW `CELEBRATION' SCHEDULED AT CAMP

The United Mine Workers will hold a "victory celebration" April 21-22 at the Wise County Fairgrounds over the outcome of its 10 1/2-month strike against Pittston Coal.

The strike reached a negotiated settlement Dec. 31 that was ratified by striking union members Feb. 19.

The union celebration will feature speakers, music, food, games and the sale of victory T-shirts and caps.

Camp Solidarity, a private recreation area in Russell County used by the union during the strike to host supporters from outside the region, will offer camping accommodations on a first-come first-served basis for the two-day celebration.
