TOP SCHOOL JOB CHANGES ANTICIPATED

A major reshuffling of Montgomery County school administrators is being planned, with a vote on the changes expected at tonight's School Board meeting.

Superintendent Harold Dodge said that six administrators will be affected by the personnel changes, which he said were all positive.

Several people have been rumored to be either leaving the school system or transferring from one school to another. None of the proposed changes has been confirmed.

One principal characterized the personnel plans as the "best kept secret in Montgomery County."

Among the positions that will likely be announced are principalships at Blacksburg Middle School and Bethel Elementary School.

Blacksburg Middle School's principal, Don Kelsey, announced in February that he is leaving the system for a high school principal position in Campbell County. He will leave at the end of June.

Bethel Elementary's principal, Bruce Johnson, announced his resignation three weeks ago. He said Monday that his resignation was for personal reasons and he did not want to discuss his plans. Johnson was principal at Bethel for a year. He was Montgomery County's director of elementary education for four years and an associate superintendent for one year.

Kelsey worked for the school system 15 years, six of which were spent as principal at Blacksburg Middle School.
